Equality Objectives
Objective 1
Reduce gaps in attendance and persistent absence between disadvantaged pupils, pupils with SEND, pupils known to social care and their peers through targeted support, early intervention and inclusive attendance strategies.
Why we have chosen this objective:
Attendance remains a key barrier to achievement for some vulnerable groups. School data and improvement priorities identify reducing attendance gaps and persistent absence as a key area for improvement.
To achieve this objective, we plan to:
-
Implement early identification and intervention for pupils at risk of poor attendance.
-
Strengthen partnerships with families and external agencies.
-
Provide targeted mentoring, pastoral support and attendance interventions.
-
Remove barriers to attendance through personalised and inclusive approaches.
Progress we are making towards this objective:
Progress will be monitored through attendance data, persistent absence figures, intervention engagement and termly reviews with school leaders and governors.
Objective 2
Narrow attainment and progress gaps for disadvantaged pupils, pupils with SEND and pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL), ensuring all students can access an ambitious curriculum and high-quality teaching.
Why we have chosen this objective:
Lyng Hall serves a diverse community with high levels of deprivation, significant EAL representation and a sizeable SEND cohort. Improving outcomes for these groups is essential to promoting equality of opportunity.

Deliver high-quality adaptive teaching and targeted academic support.
-
Monitor attainment and progress closely to identify gaps early.
-
Ensure equitable access to the full curriculum and enrichment opportunities.
-
Support aspiration through careers education and progression planning.
Progress we are making towards this objective:
Progress will be evaluated through assessment data, progress measures, attainment outcomes and destination information.

Lyng Hall is a diverse school community with students from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Promoting belonging, respect and positive relationships is central to our values of Respect, Resilience and Excellence.
