Art

Choosing Art, Craft and Design will give you a sound knowledge of drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, ceramics as well as other forms of art. You will also gain important knowledge of artist’s work. This year the group have visiting galleries in Liverpool.

During the three years, you will complete one body of coursework to create a portfolio which will be marked on:

  • Development
  • Experimentation
  • Recording
  • Presentation

Set Task

The Set Task is assessed on the same four assessment objectives as the course work. Everyone who takes the exam is given 4-6 weeks to prepare with support from the teacher. Completing the Set Task is usually an enjoyable time and pupils feel proud of their work.

A Guide to Choosing Art

Feedback from your teacher will give you an indication of your potential to do a GCSE. Mr James will be available to talk to you if you think you would like to take Art.

The Art department encourages pupils who like to draw but haven’t yet developed their drawings skills. During the course pupils gain confidence and produce excellent work. You should be prepared to do Art work at home and in after school club if you want to achieve well.

This course prepares you for Post 16. A level BTEC Fine Art and A Level Photography and any creative GCSE.
