We are beginning the Year 9 Options process in preparation for September.

Students will shortly be asked to select from the range of optional subjects available, which they will study through Years 10 and 11. Alongside these choices, they will continue to study our core compulsory subjects: English, Mathematics, and Science.

As you are aware, on Tuesday 3rd February we will be holding our Options Evening. This event provides families with an opportunity to meet with English, Maths, and Science teachers, as well as visit our subject stalls in the theatre. All option subjects will be represented, and staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. This is an important step in ensuring that students make informed and well‑considered choices, and I strongly encourage attendance.

I would also like to draw your attention to the key dates for this year’s Options process:

  • Monday 2nd February – Options booklet available online and emailed to parents.
  • Monday 2nd February – Friday 13th February – Students receive information and take part in taster sessions for all option subjects during lesson time. Tutors will continue these discussions during tutor sessions.
  • Tuesday 3rd February, 3:30–5:00pm – Options Evening in school. Parents’ Evening appointments with English, Maths, and Science teachers will take place in the dining room. All option subjects will have stalls in the theatre for parents and students to explore courses and ask questions.
  • Week beginning 23rd February – Students will indicate their initial top four subject choices (non‑binding and used only to gauge demand)
  • Week beginning 16th March – Students will submit their final option choices.

I look forward to seeing you at the Options evening and supporting our Year 9 students as they begin the next stage of their educational journey.
